🤓 10 Everyday AI Hacks to Simplify Your Family Life
Plus: Plan Perfect Family Day Out with ChatGPT!
Life as a parent is a lot - work, school schedules, activities, meal planning, and trying to find a moment to breathe. That’s why today, I’m sharing 10 real-life AI hacks that have helped my family - Michelle, Brooklyn (12), Bryanna (10), and me.
These hacks are practical, time-saving, and accessible, even if you’re just starting your AI journey. These hacks will help with making homework time less stressful, managing chores, or finding new ways to bond, AI can be your secret weapon.
Let’s dive in!
The Struggle: Figuring out what’s for dinner every night can feel like solving a puzzle that changes daily.
The AI Hack: Use meal-planning tools like Mealime, Yummly, or even ChatGPT. These tools create meal plans tailored to your family’s preferences and dietary needs.
How To: Tell ChatGPT, “Plan five family-friendly dinners for the week, including at least two vegetarian options and one gluten-free please.” It’ll provide recipes, ingredient lists, and instructions.
Real-Life Example: Bryanna once went through a “no veggies” phase. I asked ChatGPT for recipes that sneak vegetables into meals, and it suggested zucchini muffins and spinach quesadillas. Problem solved!
The Struggle: My daughter Brooklyn goes to you for homework help, and you haven’t tackled algebra since the 90s.
The AI Hack: Tools like Photomath, Socratic by Google, and ChatGPT make it easier to help your kids understand their assignments.
How To: Snap a photo of a math problem with Photomath or type a question into ChatGPT like, “Explain how to arrive at the answer to this math problem in simple terms for a 10-year-old.” These tools provide step-by-step solutions and clear explanations.
Real-Life Example: Brooklyn was stuck on fractions. My wife asked ChatGPT to explain fractions using pizza as an example. Suddenly, dividing fractions became a fun exercise when it meant more slices for her!

The Struggle: Chore charts are great in theory but often ignored in practice.
The AI Hack: Apps like Homey and OurHome help assign tasks, send reminders, and even track rewards for completed chores.
How To: Assign chores within the app and let the AI do the reminding. Bryanna gets an alert when it’s her turn to clean up after dinner, and Brooklyn gets one when it’s time to walk the dog.
Real-Life Example: We use Homey to make chores fun. The girls compete for points, which they can trade for rewards like choosing a family movie or extra screen time.
The Struggle: Every child learns differently, but traditional schooling doesn’t always cater to their unique needs.
The AI Hack: Platforms like Prodigy, DreamBox, and Duolingo ABC adapt lessons to your child’s learning style and pace.
